Originally from the Berkshires in North Western Massachusetts, Rick currently makes his home in West Hartford CT. Like many photographers, this self taught professional photographer got his start in 1999 using color and black & white film. In 2001 he switched to shooting 100% digital, using professional Nikon DSLR cameras and equipment. Although he enjoys the creative control and immediate visual information of digital, he prefers not to use Photoshop too excessively. He prefers creating his photos in-camera rather than trying to make something out of nothing in Photoshop. Most of the digital darkroom work performed on his photos, mimic techniques and filters used in a traditional film darkroom.

As Rick continues to grow as a photographer, his versatility is reflected by the breadth of the subjects that he covers. A love of capturing adults and children being themselves inspires his wedding and portrait photography. While his artistic side, is always looking for different and unique ways to capture nature or man-made things.
